1 Euro...

What can you buy with one euro these days? In my town a liter of wine, true. But forget about a coke, or even a gelato. So what to do with that shiny euro coin? (Aside from having your 3-year old choke on it. Yes, my son got a euro coin lodged in his throat! But that's a different story.)

Mayor Vittorio Sgarbi has the answer. He's offering houses in the historic center of Salemi, Sicily for just 1 euro. Yes, you read that right, 1 euro. (Hey, even with today's exchange rate you can afford that!)

So, what's the catch? The buildings are in complete disrepair. Your one euro is a good faith offer to restore the house within 2 years while maintaining its historical character. Can you see my wheels spinning now?

Read the entire story at the Telegraph UK or on the BBC's page.

I'm thinking we should pool our Euro and make ourselves a travelers clubhouse in Sicily! How great would that be? I'm in!! LW
